It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the heartbreaking loss of Gus Hannewald, a beloved member of our Clarksville National baseball family. Gus wasn’t just a player on the team he was a light in our community. A young boy full of energy, heart, and character far beyond his years.
Whether it was his smile in the dugout or his determination on the field, Gus made an impression on everyone he met. He played with a love for the game that couldn’t be taught pure, joyful, and full of spirit. Teammates looked up to him, coaches respected him, and fans cheered a little louder when he was on the field.
Gus brought life and laughter with him wherever he went. He reminded us all what it means to play not just to win, but to belong, to love the game, and to lift each other up. His presence made us better—better teammates, better coaches, better people.
No words feel quite right in a moment like this. The loss is deep, and the grief is shared across our entire community. To his family, teammates, and friends we send all our love and support. We mourn with you, and we remember with you.
In Gus’s honor, we will keep playing the game he loved. We’ll step onto the field carrying his spirit with us, giving our best and lifting each other up—just like he always did.
Rest easy, Gus. You’ll always be part of our team, and you’ll never be forgotten.
