The community of New Baltimore, Michigan, is mourning the loss of 17-year-old Logan Wilhelm, a kind and caring young man whose life ended far too soon. Logan passed away on June 21, 2025, after a tragic incident during the Bay Rama Fishfly Festival in Chesterfield. What was meant to be a night of fun turned into a heartbreaking moment that no one expected.
A Bright and Gentle Soul
Logan was a junior at Anchor Bay High School. He was known by friends and teachers as a quiet, respectful, and thoughtful young man. He had a warm heart and always treated others with kindness. Logan loved music, nature, and spending time with his family. Whether it was playing his guitar, going on hikes, or just enjoying a peaceful day, Logan found joy in the simple things.
Born on March 12, 2008, in East China Township, Logan grew up surrounded by love. He was close to his parents, Michael and Heather Wilhelm, and his sister, Elena. His family described him as a loyal son and a loving brother who brought comfort and joy to their home. His gentle spirit touched everyone who knew him.
A Tragic Loss
Logan lost his life during an altercation involving several teenagers at the Fishfly Festival. According to police reports, he was not someone who looked for trouble, but sadly, he became a victim of violence. He was taken to the hospital after the incident but passed away soon after.
The loss shocked the entire community. Anchor Bay High School provided grief counselors for students and staff, and nearby schools also offered support. Vigils were held where people gathered to light candles, share memories, and support Logan’s family.
Honoring His Memory
Logan’s funeral service was scheduled to take place on June 25 in Marine City. Friends, family, and classmates planned to gather to say their goodbyes and celebrate the life of a young man who meant so much to so many.
To honor Logan’s legacy, his family is working to create a scholarship in his name. The goal is to help other Anchor Bay students who share Logan’s values—kindness, creativity, and compassion. Through this effort, Logan’s memory will continue to inspire and support others for years to come.
A Message to the Community
Logan’s death is a painful reminder of how fragile life can be. It also shows the importance of coming together as a community to support one another. His family has asked for privacy as they grieve but has also expressed deep gratitude for the love and support they’ve received.
Logan Wilhelm may no longer be with us, but his spirit lives on in the lives he touched. He will be remembered not for how he died, but for how he lived with kindness, love, and a quiet strength that inspired others.
Rest in peace, Logan. You will always be missed, and never forgotten.
