Ben Mourer Obituary: Remembering The Allegheny College Coach – Accident Meadville

The Allegheny College community is grieving the sudden and heartbreaking loss of Ben Mourer, a dedicated coach, mentor and father who passed away at the age of 40.

Ben was deeply connected to Allegheny College, where he graduated in 2007. He returned in 2015 to lead the men’s and women’s cross country programs and was later named head coach of the track and field teams in 2022. His leadership brought the teams great success, including multiple conference championships.

Throughout his career, Ben received several Coach of the Year honors from both the North Coast Athletic Conference and the Presidents Athletic Conference. As a student-athlete, he was known for his hard work and talent, earning six All Conference honors and being recognized as a four year Alden Scholar.

More than his achievements, Ben will be remembered for his positive impact on others. He led with kindness and integrity, building a supportive environment where his athletes could grow both in sport and in life. His influence extended beyond the field, shaping countless young lives with his guidance and care.

Ben is survived by his wife Kim and their two sons Arthur and Henry. His passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of his family, friends, colleagues and the entire Allegheny community.

Plans for a memorial service will be shared by the family soon. In the meantime, support services are being offered to students and staff as they process this profound loss.

Ben Mourer’s legacy lives on in the values he shared, the lives he touched and the strength of the community he helped build. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
